OnePlus, Amazon Teasing Arrival of ‘Something New’ on March 8, Is It the OnePlus 9 Series?

OnePlus is teasing the arrival of “something new” on March 8 via its India-specific website and Amazon. The new development comes amid reports claiming that the Chinese tech company would unveil the next-generation OnePlus 9 series alongside the OnePlus Watch. The announcement from OnePlus could also mean that the new OnePlus 9 smartphones would announce on the same day. It could imply that the company may announce the launch dates of its upcoming products. OnePlus 9 series is expected to comprise three models – the high-end OnePlus 9 Pro, the vanilla OnePlus 9, and an affordable variant that could be called OnePlus 9R (or OnePlus 9E).

The dedicated “Moonshot” page does not specify exact details except for the date. Additionally, Amazon has announced a new offer where two fans are getting the chance to win an OnePlus smartphone.

The OnePlus 9 series has been a part of the rumour for months, and we have seen multiple leaks. Old reports have suggested that OnePlus 9 phones and the OnePlus Watch could launch on March 23. The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro will reportedly carry the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, while the toned-down OnePlus 9R (or OnePlus 9E) may pack the Snapdragon 690 SoC. In terms of cameras, the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro may come with Hasselblad-branded cameras. The Pro model should get top-of-the-line specs, including a Quad-HD+ display, a 120Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the OnePlus 9R will reportedly include 8GB of RAM, 128GB storage, 64-megapixel primary camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with at least 30W fast charging support.

Details about the OnePlus Watch remains scarce, though it may run on Google’s WearOS. Earlier in January, two OnePlus Watch models received certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), indicating their launch in India. It could possibly mean two variants of the same smartwatch or two different models altogether. The second model is rumoured to be called OnePlus Watch RX.
